Porcelain tiles were considered in the beginning but during the research we figured out that marble tiles would cost additional 2K which is OK for us. has anyone used marble? I particluarly like the grain/vein and feel that minor dirt and hair may not show as much between the cleans. Are there any other advantages over porcelain... crack/craze lines occurring in the veins? less visible? harder wearling? less likely to chip? we plan to get crema marfil marble tiles looking forward to some feedback Re: Marble flooring anyone? 2Jan 21, 2008 9:23 am If you like the look of marble, you may be happy with it.
However, marble is acid sensitive. It can be etched and stained by every manner of drinks and other liquids. This makes it NOT an ideal surface in kitchens & dining areas. A premium quality sealer should be applied at time of installation. When it comes to cleaning, this is not straight-forward. I'm taught (as a professional floor cleaner) to be extremely cautious when it comes to marble. After some years, the floor can become scratched and worn. To restore the surface then, it needs to be honed and polished. This is a highly specialised service, and the costs will make your eyes water. Ash. I've had them in a entertainig room and the adjoining master bedroom - They were very dark green and they showed up the dirt as they were also highly polished, We had vase water that stained the marble where it sat unknown for the few days. They are great floors - lovely feel, very luxurious look, and nice and cool in the tropics, but I'm not sure Id' put them down in a general traffic area. You might regret that choice. Steve Hi All, This is my first bathroom Reno and tiler has just finished installing marble tiles…only problem is they don’t look right? There are holes in the grout, really… 0 4587 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer.
