Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jun 24, 2011 9:41 pm Hi Guys, After some carpet help.. We had a Godfrey Hirst SDN installed last Sep.. Fast forward to now, it is looking all matted and flat in the traffic areas of all rooms... Is this a manufacturing fault? Installation problem? Find it hard to believe it should look like this after 9 months! See the pics below, one shows it in a no traffic area, the other shows the matting thats typical in all traffic areas.. (It actually looks worse in person than in the pic..) Which one is this and can I ask how much you paid for it? If you think that it is not performing like you expected and the store does not agree - the Carpet Institute of Australia has an arbitration service. http://www.carpetinstitute.com.au/ Re: Carpet Woes 3Jun 25, 2011 3:40 pm It looks bad enough in the pics to me. Go to the retailer that you bought it from, and ask for them to look at it first, and maybe for them to get a rep in after that. It shouldn't be like that in 9 mths. Should be a possible replacement claim. Mark Re: Carpet Woes 4Oct 24, 2011 10:27 pm Update... After a few months stuffing around, Godfrey Hirst have agreed to replace all the carpet in the house. We had to go to Fair Trading in the end, as Godfrey Hirst denied the problem was a manufacturing fault and wouldn't do anything about it. All's well that ends well I guess... Thought by updating it might help others know the process to go through to get a good outcome... Re: Carpet Woes 5Nov 16, 2011 8:52 pm To be fair to Goofy, it might not have been a manufacturing problem. How often do you vacuum?, Have you got a newish vacuum? How much traffic does it get? What weight or Quality is the carpet? How has it been cleaned & maintained? Goofy may have just decided it is not worth any more bad publicity & just given up & replaced it. Sometimes we expect too much from too little.... May not have been the case here, but its easy not to be realistic when money is involved. 1 11004 1 15753 they can, it's a fairly standard solution when the slab isn't recessed. the falls need to be in the main floor, if it hasn't been done then you need to ask them to redo… 4 6584 |
