We've also opted for the hide-a-hose system so that we don't have to have a hose to drag around the place. You can see it here; http://www.hideahose.com.au/ I think the total cost was about $2000. Re: vacuum system 4Jun 22, 2011 11:38 am We are going for a Beam system in our two story, get the dust pan option in the kitchen kicker. About $1900 with 4 inlets. http://www.beamvac.com.au/ Re: vacuum system 5Jul 02, 2011 10:48 pm omg that is SOOOOO cool!!! I want one!! I have a Dyson (with a motorised head) and I tell ya I am NOT impressed. To it's credit though, it does a fabulous job on my rugs, but on the tiles its well... less than average. So lucky to have found this thread while we have only just put down our slab! Re: vacuum system 7Jul 08, 2011 12:54 am pattycake4 What ducted vacuum system would you recomend.Mid price range please. It isn't so much about mid range but more about getting the right machine depending on the size of your home, whether you are on stumps or a slab and then what accessories you want - the most important part is getting the right machine for your home, get the basic tools if you are on a budget don't get an under powered machine. If you can do DIY then you'll save quite a bit especially the more points you need (about one per 8 squares) then the more you will save Also think about getting a VacuSweep - they are extremely popular Re: vacuum system 8Jul 08, 2011 2:27 pm Eskay40 We're installing the EVS SP-Elite into our build (still a few months away). LOVE IT Everyone who comes over go straight to the outlet in the wall to see what it is We got it with a few "extras" so it came in at around $4.2k Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Just want to know what the cost will be. Machine, Ducts, heads, and labour. Yes, although we got a discount on labour as hubby helped install. Copying this from one of my previous posts We got 3 hide a hose inlets (12m), wand and tools set, wireless handle with receiver (so you can turn the system on and off from the vacuum wand itself), a garage caddy with Hose and accessories, a turbo head for carpet, a horsehair attachment thing for floorboards and the most powerful motor they had for just over $4.2k - other quotes were $6k without accessories Alan, the owner, is wonderful to deal with. Very friendly and helpful. Happy to answer any questions you have. Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! I decided to get them all after handover because the company doing our install were already charging more than Alan was going to charge me. Did you get your system through Alan? And have a different company install? I cant remember off the top of my head, but will check the motor later today I was going to get the vacusweep too but hubby made a good point - whats the point in walking to the laundry, getting the broom, and sweeping to the vacusweep when I can walk to the laundry and get the vacuum wand and just suck it up Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Just got a bit curious about ducted vacuum, when I went to a friend's newly build house. It amazed me, as does every new technology, albeit after doing my research I found that Ducted Vacuuming has been around for a few years now, so why didn't it ever took off? My mind is swinging like a pendulum in making this decision, whether to go for one or not. A few Qs do come in mind that may help in making that decision: - Maintenance cost - What if something is blocked in the pipes within the walls or ceiling? - Power consumption when compared to portable vacuums - Total cost - including main unit, points, necessary accessories etc. My wife is very eager on this; I was, now maybe not so much after speaking to a friend. What do you guys say? Thanks Re: vacuum system 20Oct 05, 2011 10:10 am Yes it has been around for years,l think price is the only reason that people don't have it.Like you some don't know that it exist. Once you know the basics, the rest is easy. Read my post in the thread linked below. viewtopic.php?p=1919271#p1919271 2 19515 It's all about wireless, self install now. The cost/benefit of wired setups for the house are no longer what they used to be. Lots of wireless options.
