Hi All
We have had our floors laid (solid 19mm rosegum) and we have to decide what material we want for the expansion joint. I only know of cork. Are there any other alternatives? Any recommendations?
Thanks!
Loretta

Loretta Re: Expansion joints in timber floors -alternative to cork? 2Jun 20, 2011 8:30 pm I was going to (highly) recommend cork until I read your post - rose gum. I am guessing you want to avoid cork because of the colour difference. Other things are sealers/filler like Sikaflex, or Caulk-in-Colours. The CiC was our original option/suggestion by the installer. I think it can work out quite nice if you created several smaller gaps and then filling them with one of the above (whatever matches your colour better - if you know how would the finished floor look in terms of colour). I am not so sure the fillers would be that nice forwider gaps, say 10mm, though. My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... I know they say every 6 metres, but if it's anythign up to 8 or 9 metres, I'd probably go without. Thanks L Re: Expansion joints in timber floors -alternative to cork? 7Jun 21, 2011 12:26 pm For 11 m (with the boards) and 6 m (across the boards), you don't need any expansion gaps in the middle. I remembered to look at your blog this time and I see that they already left the gap, even though the width of the room is right on the border. I guess they want to be sure you won't have any problems with the floor in the future. What are they suggesting for the gap? I suppose cork ... which seems to be logical considering the gap size and the location. Oh, can you tell me if they left a gap between the stairs and the floor? It seems so nice and smooth on the pic. My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Hi All, First time poster. I was hoping to get some advice on villaboard installation within a bathroom. I have installed villaboard before, in a laundry.
