Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jun 12, 2011 10:31 am Hi all, just came across this Forum and joined. This, my first post. I've had problems with timber floor at home. The boards had pushed up and the cause was pointed out to water coming in from garden area behind the property. To cut a long story short, I've fixed the garden by having the level tilt away from home and having drainage work completed. Home is 2 storey. Upper level and stairs is carpeted. About 10 years old. Ground floor has this timber floor boards from entry to living room and kitchen. Formal area at the front has carpet. I was told that to put solid timber floor will create different levels between existing carpet and new floor. Should I replace all the floor with carpet? Except in kitchen area where tiles is needed, of course. The family room leads to (new) landscaped backyard. Quality sandstone as you step off living area. How would carpet tolerate traffic between inside of home to outside areas? Btw, I'll be putting new timber folding doors here. I am seeking advice before I embark on spending valuable money.
