We are trying to decide whether to carry our wooden floors throughout the lower level into the kitchen as well. Having lived with wood in the kitchen previously it would not be my first choice due to its propensity to dent and lose its finish if water is spilled
The other option would be to install tiles in the kitchen and possibly carry a similar tile onto the patio as well.
We are a bit divided on this i.e.
1. It may be more appealing to have the same floor throughout for flow through effect
2. Wood is less hardwearing in kitchen areas (grease, spills, dents)
I've attached an older pic of our lower level. We are having carpet in the main bedroom but apart from this the rest is 12mm x 83mm spotted gum including the staircase.
