Hi, we have a contract on a house and it currently has floating floors, as it is a 2 story house this makes it noisy downstairs.
Is it possible to lay carpet over floating floors without any issues.
Any advice would be great

It would be quicker than them pulling up old carpet, so they shouldn't charge you more. Best to not mention my signature... If it is a timber floating floor,and under the skirting, there may be a slight gap when the carpet is laid after taking up the flooring. Laying over the floating floor raises issues with floor height at junctions of other floors. And if something goes wrong with the floating floor if carpet is laid over it, it will all have to come up. Best to remove it before carpet is laid. But it is not impossible to lay over it, just not recommended. To put anything over slate you will need to put self level compound over the entire area as slate various in thickness and is very un even.
