I initially attempted it using a black/white checked 3x4m strip of Gerflor

From a distance it looks good, but I totally ballsed up the edges However didn't have time to redo it. Planning to redo it now and wondering
- Is this just to complicated a shape to cut in one piece? Was I just to ambitious the first time?
- What happens with the edges - should I be putting some sort of wooden strip (beading?) round the edges to keep it neat?
- The gerflor is supposed to not need gluing, is that really the case? I can just lay it on the floor and that's that? I've noticed with the narrow strip behind my breakfast bar that its easy knocked. Perhaps just doublesided tape?
An alternative that looks easier is Vinyl tiles, but ...
- Can't seem to find any plain black/white tiles for checkering
- Cleaning - from the online stuff I read, Vinyl tiles gather a lot more dirt in the join lines - this true? they'd take more cleaning that a flat sheet of lino/vinyl?
Thanks - Lindsay
