Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering Re: Many many pics of flooring ~ help!! 21Apr 24, 2011 11:32 am Thanks chippy, really appreciate your opinion + everyone giving me their thoughts. We're definitely leaning towards a darker colour now... I was worried that this might be too radical a choice, but from all the feedback we've had so far, maybe not so radical after all! Decision to be made very soon! I will keep you all posted. Thanks again! _______________________________________________________________ We're a knockdown | rebuild ~ Melb SE burbs Building modified version of the Fairhaven Glenaire Homeone thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28429 _______________________________________________________________ Re: Many many pics of flooring ~ help!! 22Jul 17, 2011 8:29 pm Finally! Here are the flooring choices! (This is the long version! ) We went from what we were looking at before, to this selection (May). Again these are all from the Quick-Step range of laminate flooring. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ * Top left is Old Oak Matt Oiled planks, the QS Eligna range, U312 (8mm thick) * Top right is Light Grey Varnished planks, the QS Eligna range, UM1304 (8mm thick) * Bottom left is Natural Varnished Oak plants, from the QS Eligna “Country Collection” range (9.5mm thick, this is a premium range with slight texture to the surface but a limited colour selection) * Bottom right the Light Grey Oiled Oak, the QS Classic range, QSM034 (only 7mm thick) I picked the top left, Old Oak Matt Oiled planks, as the new ‘favourite’ (though was a little bit worried about it being a little bit too yellow) because we needed to find a new ‘medium’ range colour. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ However, comparing back to our favourite, the Classic in the Light Grey Oiled Oak, I was a bit concerned… Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Turns out DH is not happy with this compromise!! He goes back on his own (June) to compare these final three: * Top left is Dark Grey Varnished Oak planks, the QS Eligna range, UM1305 (8mm thick). This is the closest we can get to the colour we want, in the 8mm thick range. * Top right is the Classic Light Grey Oiled Oak (again) ~ it’s only 7mm! * Bottom is the Old Oak Matt Oiled plants, again ~ the rejected compromise in 8mm. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Finally after all this stressing about the 7mm won’t be as good as the 8mm, blah blah blah stress stress!!! We decide we keep going back to that Classic one again and again… because it’s the *c o l o u r* we like the best! So that’s what we picked. It is not a “premium” flooring choice so the difference between 7mm and 8mm is not something we’re going to notice every day when we’re walking on it. We went with ever so slightly upgraded underlay of 3mm. As an added bonus, the Classic is cheaper than the Eligna (7mm vs 8mm). Happy! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ FYI, length of these planks is 120 cm, and width is 19cm ~ nice + wide, we wanted wide. This is a terrible picture, but this is our final selection of floor with the carpet ~ there was a flare with the lighting and it’s making it look much lighter than it is.. As I have openly admitted to everyone, we just completely choked on this decision!! It is a compromise, but we are very happy with the colour + V E R Y ****** relieved to have made a decision AT LAST!! _______________________________________________________________ We're a knockdown | rebuild ~ Melb SE burbs Building modified version of the Fairhaven Glenaire Homeone thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28429 _______________________________________________________________ Re: Many many pics of flooring ~ FINALLY! a decision at last 23Jul 17, 2011 9:03 pm Very nice, sooooo hard to pick I think you have chosen well would love to see pics when you finish. We are going through this exact same thing now, in love with a colour in the classic range but have been advised 7mm is not so good, but really does that 1mm make all the difference?! Have also been advised the classic is not as good in quality... but who knows. So it would be wonderful to hear from someone who has actually lived with it.. Any kind of feedback would be GREATLY appreciated... Thanks! I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 73681 They already have two well known ones (HIA & MBA) that many new home buyers mistakenly think are regulatory bodies that Joe Public can complain to. 6 15023 1000000% definitely add insulation.
