Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering Re: Solution for slippery porch tiles? 3Mar 22, 2011 9:59 pm squeak Our 12sqm tiled front porch is largely exposed to rain and has tiles that get can quite slippery when wet. At the moment we have on it a thin rubber mat leading to the doorway (like a red carpet), but it looks a bit crude and doesn't stay put on windy days. It seems there are various chemical treatments available to make the tiles less slippery, but I can't find a ballpark figure to indicate the cost or independent feedback to list the downsides. Anyone have advice or personal experiences to share? Highly polished and shiny surfaces will be slippery when they become wet.Because of their slippery nature, unglazed or non-gloss ceramic tiles with roughened surfaces should be used in high-moisture areas.Tiles with dull or matte finish are most appropriate for floors as they are less slippery when wet than tiles with glossy finishes.
