Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 21, 2011 4:30 pm Hi everyone, This is a rather vague question - but I'm after a rough estimate before I go shopping in a few days time.. Our builder has offered us a discount of $7200 for not carpetting four rooms (four bedrooms). 4.74 x 3.5m 3.91 x 3.5m 3.91 x 3.5m 3 x 3.5m Total 54-55 sq m. .. by my calcs it would cost $130 per square metre through the builder - supplied (including all underlay, etc) and installed - is this a good deal? I got a quote this morning for carpet, underlay installed for just over 100 sqm for $3800. That is their best underlay and a good carpet. Although they are the people who supply to the big carpet stores and he said if I found something in their warehouse it would be 30 odd dollars per sqm cheaper than ordering some Re: Typical cost of carpet fully installed 4Mar 21, 2011 5:38 pm Take the builder discount of $7200, and get it done yourself. It takes 15.9 broadloom meters of carpet for those 4 rooms. That builders price is over $450 per broadloom meter. You can have a very good carpet for half the price. Re: Typical cost of carpet fully installed 5Mar 21, 2011 9:07 pm Ahh, just what I wanted to hear.. every little bit helps! An acquaintance is a carpet salesman so we will go see him and get his recommendation, I don't think he will rip us off :) Thanks for advice :) Built 3br house in Glenorchy, Tas in 2001 * * * Built 5br courtyard house in Lenah Valley, Tas in 2011 - Homeone thread / Blog The unit normally clips into a metal plate screwed to the wall, either plate is not flush, or unit not hooked in and could be hanging from the pipes partly, either might… 2 15767 1 10973 1 15697 |
