Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 21, 2011 11:24 am To all who intend on having timber flooring installed in their home please please do research into the company you are going to use. We had one lot of flooring installed which we are over the moon about, great job and great company. The other company we used were aweful, ** workmanship, ** finish which felt greasy under your feet, split board and now needs to be refinished after they put a new piece in. Now after going to fair trading it was meant to be re-finished today, no sanding guy turned up so I called the company and told them I was going to fair trading again and the person I was speaking to started shouting at me. I raised my voice first but only out of sheer frustration. We have had all the stuff from that room spread around the house blocking up evereything for 3 weeks waiting for these jerks to come back and get it finished. Now they say tomorrow because the sanding guy thought today was tomorrow, no wonder I was grumpy. Over this whole saga I have needed about 5 days off and have moved the furniture in and out of the room 3 times for repairs, such as the cracked board and poor finish. All I can say is DO NOT I repeat DO NOT use anyone who is not certified with ATFA (Australian Timber Flooring Association) they have a website at http://www.atfa.com.au. This experience has been horrendous. The company I can recommend fully is Sydney Flooring, they did an outstanding job, they are a little more expensive but absolutely worth it. I am wondering who did you use (if you can say it, could you PM me please - maybe it's one of those that quoted for us ). Seems like John's team is getting good reviews here, pitty these reviews started coming now when it's too late for us. Has John perhaps done the ground floor for you, and these other guys the top floor? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15839 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6148 Hi there, I'm a conplete newbie to this, but I'm looking to put a floor down in my 6x9m shed.
