Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering Re: Bamboo Flooring and Timber Flooring 121May 18, 2013 8:09 pm Im thinking of getting bamboo flooring for my kitchen back room area but once it's laid it's going to be higher then the hallway carpet... They'll be a small 12mm step up... How are these finished off so they don't look stupid? Has anyone got pics of there's? Re: Bamboo Flooring and Timber Flooring 122Jul 02, 2013 10:28 am We bought our carbonized bamboo flooring from UB TRADING ( they are on ebay and on facebook) I cannot say highly enough about the service and the product. We actually paid $33 m2 although now I believe it is $38.00. It is a beautiful product, so easy to work with, and the guy that helped us lay it says its is the best product he has used. It looks a million dollars at a third of the price that others are charging. Dont be frightened by the price it is an a1 grade product. ALso bought the better underlay - superfelt - and that is great too. Re: Bamboo Flooring and Timber Flooring 123Jul 09, 2013 10:35 am Got our bamboo floor from UB Trading and very happy with it. We installed it about 6 months ago, so thought its about time we put some pictures up. Great floor, great quality and easy to install, grade A, 14mm carbonised bamboo floor. Due to the time constraints, we had a professional installer who did the install of it and in the 25 years that he has been doing this, he reckons is one of the best floors he has worked with. We paid $35 per sqm including the underlay. No complaints as far as the product goes. Had a bit of an argument with the seller, but this was eventually sorted out. One word of advice, if for whatever reason you decide to change the batch you want your order to be in (even though we notified him weeks in advance), you better be prepared to have an argument with the seller. Not the kinda guy who likes the change. I could understand the minor inconvenience to him, but his attitude and approach was a bit unprofessional IMO. Other than that and based on the product itself, highly recommended. Thanks for sharing helps us in many ways given our white joinery in the kitchen also Hey MM, thanks for that and yeah, most definitely a good ol Liverpool supporter. You are welcome and I'm more than happy to share pics and answer any question you or anyone else may have. I know first hand how useful any information and pictures can be when renovating or as it is in your case, building a new house. Nice house by the way, I'm sure you are going to love it when it is finished although judging by the last post in your thread, there are a few things you are not overly happy with, but I'm sure it will all get sorted out ok and to your satisfaction. Re: Bamboo Flooring and Timber Flooring 128Jul 17, 2013 12:38 pm Hey all, I've been doing a lot of research and definitely strandwoven bamboo is the way to go for us. I'm getting it from these guys (http://sunleaf.net.au/index.php) and was quoted $33 per sqm and $2 per sqm for 2mm underlay (rubber acoustic/moisture type) + $30 delivery. Has anyone used them before? Will DIY install 40sqm next week. Btw I don't always believe in the "you get what you pay for" saying but will be happy to be proven wrong in regards to this particular situation. 25 year warranty, 14mm thick, etc... Was wanting to mainly go for the coffee colour, but it's a bit boring so we want to mix it with something? Maybe the coffee + brandy, or even coffee + brandy + natural? Or would that be too much? We prefer darker over lighter flooring. One more thing for installation.. Is there a maximum length before we have to stop and leave an expansion gap? The hallway is about 6m long and leads into the 4m long dining through an open doorway. I'd like to keep it continuous. The hallway is about 6m long and leads into the 4m long dining through an open doorway. I'd like to keep it continuous. Hi Ponglong, $33 per sqm is sounding a bit cheap. Generally, it should cost around $25 US per sqm for good quality materials to buy from factories, then added onto this price is shipping, stamp duty, boating fees, customs fees, it comes to about $30 per sqm just for the suppliers to purchase and ship the materials. However as I haven't seen their products I can't give you a proper answer. The 25 year warranty is promising. Have a look at the individual floorboards and check the density and weight. Since you're going with strand woven flooring, each floorboard should be fairly heavy and you should be unable to leave any marks on the surface with your fingernail. Also, with the expansion gap. There should be no need to leave an expansion gap - you should be able to continue from the hallway through to your dining area. Hope this helps and best of luck. However there's very fine swirl marks that can be seen at the right angle of lighting, kind of like those seen on a car. Probably because it's a gloss finish, but good to see perhaps the bamboo doesn't have this. Hi mate, just a quick question for you or for anyone that has bought their flooring from UB Trading....Do you have stairs and did you get the stairs done as well? How do they look now after they have settled and what did they charge for treads? Cheers Re: Bamboo Flooring and Timber Flooring 134Oct 14, 2013 6:47 pm Hi mate, just a quick question for you or for anyone that has bought their flooring from UB Trading....Do you have stairs and did you get the stairs done as well? Cheers[/quote] Yes we got ours from UB...we have 3 lots of 3 steps throughout the area, and have done them all with bamboo. We used the stair nosing on the edges and then just the normal planks of bamboo for the rest. I think the nosing was about $33.00 a length - (I think). I will post some pictures asap..... I got two samples from UB, and one was very light coloured and the other quite dark. This appears to be somewhere in between, which is what we're after. Re: Bamboo Flooring and Timber Flooring 136Oct 21, 2013 7:59 am that looks like carbonized - which is what we have. Bamboo only comes in light wood,,,to get colours they dye it which means the colour doesnt go all the way through. However, carbonized (coffee colour) is actually steamed to get the colour - so it does go all the way through.
