Any one used heard of Verdura? We are getting charged about $75per m2 fully installed. We used Verdura Coffee (only about 40m2) earlier in the year and paid $85/m laid. Love it! Good price. Re: Bamboo Flooring and Timber Flooring 106Jan 23, 2013 10:48 pm Cherie I installed Premium Floor's ARC Bamboo Coffee for a client and it came up trumps. Bamboo is a versatile and classy floor covering - off the top of my head 13mm thick. We are about to do the same, trying to convince Builder to lift our kitchen cabinetry and tack on skirtings is another issue. Trying to do what we can to avoid skirting if possible but Builder is reluctant to accommodate....if they agree in the end I am sure it will cost us for the inconvenience.... Any suggestions or thoughts how this could be achieved/approached?? The kitchen island is the one thing you'll need to address with quad or the like. I'd go for the smallest squared timber I could get. A solution is definitely worth it. I've seen many prefinished floors with timber quad over the entire edging, looks terrible IMO. If you're paying good $$ for your floor, demand it gets done right. Re: Bamboo Flooring and Timber Flooring 108Feb 07, 2013 2:04 pm My husband and I are building in Northern NSW - Coffs Coast (we're from Brisbane). We've agreed to get the bamboo flooring but don't know who is the best to get it from.. Can anybody recommend where we can buy good quality bamboo flooring in the Coffs Harbour region? Re: Bamboo Flooring and Timber Flooring 109Feb 07, 2013 3:39 pm If the bamboo goes down before the island bench and other benches there is no need for quad. We are doing the Bamboo off contract after handover given the cost saving and fact our Builder's flooring supplier does not offer Bamboo..... Of interest we have had a national chain quote us on Bamboo and as they only stock heat pressed Bamboo they are going the hard sell of that benefit when other Bamboos are cold pressed...argument being the heat pressed is more appropriate for our environment especially in SA where it is dry compared to our Northern neighbours.....same same but different in my eyes !! You must not leave water to sit on bamboo, or any timber floor for that matter. It will ruin it. This is why the laundry is seen as a no, no. I really wouldn't do it personally. I don't think it adds anything to the house to have it bamboo either. The laundry is out of the way and not seen by anyone but the house owner generally, so practicality is the way to go. Not a good move resale wise either. On the other hand, I have timber in the kitchen, which I think is easier to keep dry. The big plus here is the aesthetic win. Having a timber floor meeting tiles in the kitchen looks awful... Sorry but it does. Dark timber with a white kitchen... It depends how much water the bamboo flooring will come into contact with. For example in the kitchen, that is prone to spills and constant water contact from the sink however this is no problem because (usually/hopefully) though it is constantly in contact with water; the amount of water is not enough to damage the flooring. Bamboo floors can go into your laundry yes, but large spills/leaky washing machines will definitely ruin your floors. All the best - any more questions feel free to ask. We have been quoted $20/m $5/linear metre to tack the skirtings back on $5/linear metre of stained beading where required Doesn't sound too bad...depends on how many sq/m you're doing. We had 150m laid at $18/m. Beading and edging included (had minimal beading anyway) Then had the 2nd fix carpenter back for a day to re-fit skirts & other bits and pieces for about $350 Re: Bamboo Flooring and Timber Flooring 120Apr 15, 2013 8:34 pm Rowena jims2020 Rowena Love our bamboo floorboards, but they creak. Way more than they used to. Flooring company was due out last week to have a look at them, but he didn't show. Despite the creaking sounds, they look fabulous hey which company did the installation for you ? Was it Bamboo and Timber Select ? Melbourne Floor Direct. The company were easy to deal with and hassle free. re: creaking. They are coming around soon to have a squiz at the creaks. I wouldn't go with BTS if you paid me. The salesman were soooo rude and I told them so. I'd rather give my money to someone who deserves it. Did Melbourne Floor direct ever come out and fix your floors? We had spotted gum engineered floorboards installed. Less than one month after install the boards started to warp. We were told over the phone that it was sun damage?! We always have blinds down on hot days and surely a product sold for use in Australia can withstand the sun for more than a few weeks! As the weeks progressed more problems started coming up including gaps, creaking, and even boards splitting down the middle. It took many phone calls and months for them to come out for an inspection. He was half an hour late and didn't even look at all the boards. Five months later and still no apology and certainly no resolution. Every time I look at the floors or feel the boards creaking I feel like crying. It was so much money. I wish I never walked into their showroom. Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15826 Staircases and sausages.
