I am having timber flooring throughout (incuding bedrooms) and not sure if it is a good idea to put timber flooring in the built ins, walk in pantry, walk in linen cupboard as well. What would your suggestions be? What's on the floor of your buit-ins, pantry and linen? 2Mar 04, 2011 9:52 am blueblueblue Is the floor of your built-ins the same as in the bedroom? And the linen cupboard same as your hallway? yes. Our bedrooms and wardrobes have carpet; hallway where linen is is floorboards, and kitchen and pantry floorboards too. Gives it more of a seamless look. Not sure why you'd want it different other than cost? I agree with Donuts in the streamlined look. Also makes it easier to clean! If you have carpet (same as adjoining room) you just vac it out when you vac the room, same as timber, and wash it while you do the rest of the room. Easy! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... If you weren't to continue the carpets/boards/tiles/whatever then what would you put in there? I don't even understand why you would consider not continuing the flooring of that room into the cupboard. 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Exactly that What's on the floor of your buit-ins, pantry and linen? 6Mar 04, 2011 10:51 am Well in that case go for the cheaper option for the cupboards I guess. I tossed up for about two minutes whether to get boards or tiles in the pantry as it would have saved maybe $200, but I'm glad we didn't as the door is always open and it wouldnt have looked as good. Normal cupboards aren't that big though so they wouldn't make such a huge cost difference. Depends on your budget and priorities I suppose. Linen in hallway and wardrobes have carpet, linen in laundry tiles and pantry in kitchen timber. Some things are worth waiting for.
