Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Feb 28, 2011 6:17 pm Hi We are planning on replacing carpet with either bamboo, laminate or engineered hardwood floors. As this is on the ground floor, I am looking for one that is highly resistant to scratching. One rectangular room (lounge) is approx 32 sqm and the other room (study) is 15 sqm. Both will be on either side of the central entrance ceramic tiled hallway. Been reading the forums here and it seems like Quickstep comes highly recommended. I saw a new range from Quickstep called the "Colonial" range and it has the look of Australian timbers such as blackbutt, spotted gum, jarrah & something else. The finish is also quite glossy compared to their existing range such as the Eligna. They are also long planks 2050mm x 156mm x 9.5mm. Same length as their Largo range but Largo's width is 205mm. Has anyone installed any of these? Does anyone have a pic? Do you think the gloss will last? What did you think about the long planks? Do long planks tend to suit bigger rooms? There are no lifestyle pictures apart from what I saw in a home magazine and what they have in the shop. Its not in the website yet as its a new range. Re: New Quickstep Colonial range - has anyone tried this 2Mar 01, 2011 2:52 pm If it's as good as the Eligna, you'll be happy with it. We have Eligna in the kitchen, living area, entry and stairs, and its great so far. You might find a gloss finish will show up more marks and dust. Ask the shop if you can take a sample home and test it yourself to see how it looks. Find out the AC rating and warranty, should give you an idea of how good it is. I think the long boards look good, but they didn't come in the color we wanted. Re: New Quickstep Colonial range - has anyone tried this 3Mar 15, 2013 2:07 pm Bumping up the topic... Can someone upload pictures of Colonial Spotted Gum or Brazilian Walnut installed in the house? Thanks Re: New Quickstep Colonial range - has anyone tried this 5Mar 16, 2013 8:49 pm taki Hi, You can find a couple of photos of NSW spotted gum here: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=56085&hilit=colonial Here is some more: Thanks, do you know if NSW Spotted Gum is any different to WA (if that even exists)? I think I saw somewhere QLD Spotted Gum - that's why I'm asking... Also do you know what color wall is that? Re: New Quickstep Colonial range - has anyone tried this 6Mar 17, 2013 8:28 am I don't think Quickstep has any other than NSW spotted gum in the colonial range. The reason why I mentioned NSW is because of the difference between NSW and QLD spotted gum when it comes to real timber. NSW spotted gum is not red. I was confused as on Quickstep website it just states "Colonial Spotted Gum"... Is this your house on the pictures? What colour wall is that?
