Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Feb 21, 2011 9:59 pm Hi there We currently have carpet flooring and are looking to replace it with either floating floorboards or flooring tiles. The apartment is on the top floor and has a balcony with a water view. We are looking for views from the forum on what would be preferred. Would it be tile flooring or floating floorboard and why? Would be grateful to hear from other home owners' experience. Also, please include any thoughts you might have on moisture, temperature (ie. heat from the sun), which might have an impact on the flooring we choose. All comments are welcome! Thank you. Re: Floating Floorboard or Tile Flooring?? Need All the Advi 2Feb 22, 2011 5:05 pm Since you say it's a top floor apartment, I assume it's a strata building? If so, what do your by-laws say? I'm asking as most by-laws include something about not being able to replace the flooring type without approval from the owner's corporation due to noise. So, if your building does have a by-law about this, you will need to consider the noise insulation of the flooring, which would in most cases put a floating floor with good quality noise reducing underlay, significantly ahead of tiles. So my advice is, consult your by-laws, see what they say, and ensure you obtain permission for whatever choice you make from the Owner's Corporation if your by-laws do mention this. No by-law restricting what floor coverings. So which is better? Floor tiles or floating floor board? Re: Floating Floorboard or Tile Flooring?? Need All the Advi 4Mar 04, 2011 2:20 pm You can have a combination of both. If you look at the link to our web site we bring in timber look floor tiles from Spain. Hard to believe they are tile..but they are. Cheers Joe Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. If you haven't sorted this already you need to caulk this gap. Not sure where you are but if you are in Sydney I can… 5 4335 I am looking for someone who might have tackled a similar issue as me. I have a few rendered interior walls, the surface condition is hardly flat. I can see all the bumps… 0 7950 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors. But I'm not sure… 3 6112 |
