Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Feb 21, 2011 1:00 am I'm building in Victor Harbor, SA and hope to install about 60m2 of Boral Silkwood Blackbutt on a concrete floor, in the Family Room, Dining, Kitchen and Hallway. Would greatly appreciate any tips on where to get the best deal. Also anyone who has experience with the Silkwood products, any tips would be appreciated. cheers Re: Boral Silkwood 2Feb 21, 2011 6:44 pm Hi Oldrocker, I've moved this into the Flooring Forum where you might get a bit more of a response. I used Silkwood (Spotted Gum) in my kitchen, meals, family and hallway in my new home, and it's the most disappointing part of my build. I would never get a floating floor again, but a solid floor. I find they scratch and dent very easily and in some places (after 18 months) they look terrible. I even have a 'no shoes' policy, but that didn't seem to help. Do a search of the flooring forum and you will find plenty of threads with Boral Silkwood and mixed reviews. I lived with a solid hardwood floor (on stumps) in our old house for 12 years and didn't have them recoated, nor many problems at all in that time...young children and all. Cleaning them is easy, but preventing scratches and dents is not. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!!
