Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Dec 17, 2007 10:05 pm Currently have brown tles with about a million marks and chips in them, all through the house. Want to put timber-look-laminate flooring throughout, but don't really want to chisel off all those tiles! Can we putty the floor to remove the chips/dents, and also the lines between the tiles, so the laminate doesn't sink in to them? Do you think this would save any time and/or money? Re: laminate over tiles 2May 06, 2008 3:42 am The subfloor for installing laminate flooring should be flat. The locking system of laminate flooring will be damaged on uneven subfloor when people walk on it. And you need to do much work to make the tiles flat since there are much marks and chips. I suppose the cost will be less to remove these tiles. So you'd better chisel off all those tiles.
