We are planning to pull up our old carpet, slate and cork and then tile the living areas, kitchen and hallways of our house. We will be doing the work ourselves.
The house is 19 years old and doesn't have a large floorplan. The hallways are relatively narrow, at about 885mm with the skirting boards down.
Most of the tile places I visited today have recommended getting larger tiles to minimise grout lines and make the floor area look bigger. However, asthetically I like the look of three tiles (or one whole tile and two cut tile sections) across the hallway sections, rather just two tiles across that narrow width. I'm concerned that if the grout line isn't pretty straight it will look all wrong.
Does anyone have any pics of narrow hallways tiled with larger tiles?
I think I will regret choosing 300 x 300 mm tiles for the whole house based on the width of the hallways. I would love some advice from those who have made larger tiles work in small widths.
