Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jan 25, 2011 12:08 pm Been told that it's nicer not to use 600x600 in smaller areas, eg. kitchen, as it wouldn't look as good. Our kitchen measures just over 2m x 2m straight clear space (plus under the fridge etc). Would 600x600 tiles look odd? Do you have a small-ish kitchen and 600x600 tiles? Can you post a pic please? And any comments, of course Thanks! My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Small kitchen, BIG tiles - show us yours :) 3Jan 25, 2011 2:23 pm Lex we were advise the same and ended up putting the same 600x600 tile but in a 300x300 size in the bathrooms and the laundry. The kitchen is joined another living area so we used the 600's there. Will get back to you re the pm. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Small kitchen, BIG tiles - show us yours :) 4Jan 25, 2011 7:40 pm Thanks ladies kb, just found this pic from themax's thread - our kitchen is basically the same layout/floor plan as hers (can't find any pics of our own kitchen which shows as much of the layout ). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The only difference is that themax has all of the floor tiled, while we have timber flooring in the family area, starting from the blue line. So yes, this section of future tiling is kind of stand-alone There's another section (hallway) on the LHS close to where the floor mat is on the pic ... Will use the same tile there. So, we basically have timber flooring in between these 2 tiled areas. I can see from tm's pic that 600s looks completely normal (and gorgous ) even in the small-ish kitchen (ours may be a little smaller from fridge to sink, but a little wider the other way - our cabinets sit on the other side of the blue line here. BTW, I have a sample tile that looks very similar to this one . I love LOVE that colour, but have noticed that it shows every single piece of dust or debris Themax, what colour is your grout here? Re: Small kitchen, BIG tiles - show us yours :) 5Jan 25, 2011 8:12 pm Can't remember the exact colour lex but it was as close a match to the tile as we could get. We actually have this tile running from the front door all the way along the hallway, then this room, kitchen (that's a cane basket/footstool not a mat by the way but it actually does look like a mat now that you mention it ). Then to the left of the m/wave is the laundry. Same tile but in 300x300's. So I guess you would get 3 and a little bit tiles across the kitchen. I have 3 and a half tile each side. I think it would look ok but that is totally up to your own taste lex www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Small kitchen, BIG tiles - show us yours :) 6Jan 25, 2011 8:29 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ooooooooh how beautiful ... Now I forgot what was this all about OK, back to business ... totally agree, 600s would be quite nice, ie. nicer than smaller tiles. And yes, it's the footstool!! I thought the doorway was a bit too close to the fridge Thanks tm My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ...
