Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jan 23, 2011 10:49 am I recently finished our floors with Treatex Hardwax Oil. The old part of the house is baltic pine and the extension is mixed hardwood. I am very happy with the look of the finish but I am worried that the hardwax oil isn't going to give the baltic much protection from knocks and scratches. Could I put something over the finish to give it some extra durability? Has anyone had baltic pine floors finished with this product? Re: Hardwax Oil on Baltic 2Jan 23, 2011 6:56 pm Hardwax Oil is a great finish for softwoods because you can buff in patches here and there. The problem with Baltic Pine isn't the finish but the fact that the wood is very soft. There is no finish on the plant that will protect it from stilettos and the like Remember furniture protectors, mats at doors, clipped dog nails etc Re: Hardwax Oil on Baltic 3Jan 23, 2011 8:47 pm Thanks Namtrak. And thanks for the advice in other posts which was very helpful to me when I was sanding and finishing my floor!! Also found the people at Whittle Waxes very helpful with my Hardwax Oil application as others have posted. Cheers I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 760 Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 1290 |
