After quite a bit of research and visiting many a local carpet retailer I am beginning to feel a bit sceptical about the way retailers quote. So far I have had quotes of between 46l/m and 55l/m and have found many retailers are reluctant to be tied down to an exact price per metre or broadloom. I realise that the amount of carpet needed is affected by where the joins are and more carpet means less joins but they all seem to have to have at least one join in the bigger rooms and none of them have cross joins from what I've seen. One retailer I just visited couldn't even seem to locate the carpet the company has advertised for a very reasonable rate and the one he pointed out to me was not called the same as the advertised one and was in fact a different fibre make up. He also quoted a higher price than that advertised, couldn't locate the brochure that i was referring to and altogether played the "I'm confused" card. If i can be bothered to revisit the store I'll be sure to take the brochure next time. So now I'm becoming a bit jaded and i'm wondering what the actual variances are from the floor plans to the actual measure and if once the company has your deposit they decide to quote up for the amount of carpet needed. Anyone out there with this experience or any advice on how to independently obtain the best advice on the amount of carpet needed and joins? Much appreciated if you could help. thx in advance. Could this account for the different amounts being quoted? ps.I think you meant to say 'rorts' Re: Carpet Quote Rorts 3Jan 18, 2011 6:59 am Thx Pinchy Nope no difference in fibre type or pattern - pretty much exactly the same carpet. Some measurers just add the staircase on its own, without seeing if offcuts can be used up. hey there! π so, itβs kinda common for standard drawer depths to be around 500mm since most cabinets use this size to fit the usual runners… 3 20902 I was being kind to the builder.
