Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Dec 04, 2010 5:41 pm Hi Guys, We decided to go and confuse ourselves a little more by going back to our tile supplier and lo and behold we decided that if we were going to go for Italian porcelain for our main flooring why don't we check out the timber look tiling as it is only a little more expensive. Now it sounds kinda strange that I wouldn't go for a laminate (which is not the real thing) to the timber look tiling which is more expensive than the real thing. I would be interested if anyone has these timber look tiling and what your decision making process was given that you can get the real timber for less money. Also if you have ever owned all 3 types - laminate, hardwood & timber look tiles what is your feedback around them? The plus (over timber) is the 'minus' of fussy and dirty installation of full timber . I've seen these close-up, but forgot if they have the timber 'grooves', ie. not a smooth flat surface. If yes, they could be a tiny bit harder to keep clean - maybe. My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Does anyone have tiles with timber look tiling? 3Dec 22, 2010 9:30 am We have been importing them since 1997. The Spanish lines we import are $47sqm for the 15x45cm and $88 for the 15x90cm format. The lines we bring in are so realistic that we have had to put "Yes they are tiles..." signs on them. Cheers Re: Does anyone have tiles with timber look tiling? 4Dec 26, 2010 5:22 pm I've seen them in/on an Alfresco floor in a display home... I'm not a huge fan to be honest - I thought I'd like them but I don't - my main thing is I HATE TILES... i just really hate the look of grout. In relation to the timber and timber laminates... lived with real timber at my parents house, hard wearing although over the years they have scratched from dogs and just wear and tear - they were installed in 2000 so after 10 years they could do with a sand and restain, easy to keep clean and warm. Moved into our place with laminates 2 weeks ago - dog runs up and down and no scratches at all, easy to keep clean with spills, only downside to me is the echo/noise with them vs. real timber... upside to both for me is NO GROUT!!! Hope that helps. Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Interested in getting either the Polytec Boston Oak or Palace Peak for kitchen cabinets. Looking at the Boston Oak ones, it appears that the colour varies significantly… 0 9166 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15904 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11576 |
