Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering Re: how to get rid of new carpet smell? 5Nov 20, 2010 8:58 pm Hi Fruitty, Im so not an expert but as Im going to be in the same boat myself soon, have asked around. For home remedies, I've heard to get rid of off-gassing (new carpet smell) released by synthetic carpet try: 1) air room as much as possible 2) add indoor plants to room to ventilate the room and remove gasses. If you're game, to absorb odour, you can try: 3) sprinkle carpet with bi-carb and vacuum after a day 4) add bowl of vinegar to room for a while (meant to absorb odours & works for paint fumes too) 5) add a bowl of water containing apple or onion wedges, leave overnight. Disclaimer: Haven't tried the last 3 myself so cannot vouch for their accuracy or know of any contraindications or adverse side effects!! HTH BB 1 11010 1 15758 they can, it's a fairly standard solution when the slab isn't recessed. the falls need to be in the main floor, if it hasn't been done then you need to ask them to redo… 4 6595 |
