Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Nov 28, 2007 7:58 pm I need some help choosing carpet and underlay for a snooker room.I assume the carpet needs to be heavy duty to allow for the heavy foot traffic. The walls of the room will be painted a coffee/mocca with white doors and architraves.I am not really sure what colour timber and cloth the snooker table will be finished in at this this stage so any help with this will be appreciated.
Thank You. ![]() Building an Allworth home at St Georges Basin,New South Wales. http://myallworth.blogspot.com/ http://www.allworthhomes.com.au/ Re: Carpet for snooker room. 2Nov 28, 2007 8:26 pm not2oldru……where’s MY phone call!!!!!
You live, what, 20 minutes away from me??????? Don’t tell your friends I’m helping you. ![]() Your wall colours sound very nice!!! Take a sample of that colour and pop into Carpet Court out South Nowra, tell them what you need the carpet for. The “BLOKES ROOM” You might want to look at the commercial grade carpet. Short pile!!!! The guys there are great they will help you choose a carpet in no time! By having the colour of your walls it will be easier to find a colour carpet to match. As for your snooker table…..in doing a few pubs over the years I have found they only use 2 coloured felts…..green and blue. With your wall colour I would look at the deep blue. Keep the timber dark. After all it is a masculine style room. Hope this has helped! ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Carpet for snooker room. 3Nov 28, 2007 9:22 pm A snooker room? I'm green with envy! ![]() As Mish said, felt on snooker tables is traditionally green, and there are some blues. However, I think you can order your table in a range of felt colours. Is it a 12' table? What are the room dimensions? Is there much light in the room? Suggestion...... A room such as this is a great opportunity to get outside of conventional home decor themes, and do something a bit exciting. Be adventurous! ![]() Stronger or louder colours are good for the carpet in a room like this. Axminster carpets will really be at home here. You can get something to co-ordinate with the table felt colour etc. If axminster is outside of your budget, let me know, and I'll explore other possibilities. Ash. I am still living in Sydney at present,my house probably will not be finished till mid April. ![]() Ash, How did you beat Eddie? Was he drunk or are you really good? ![]() I wish I could afford a room big enough for a full size table but 8' x 4' will have to do.Plus a dart board of course. At this stage I am thinking that blue felt on dark timber will look great.I did a google on axminster and came up with this. http://www.brintons.com.au/index.html There are some fantastic looking carpets on this site in particular the Las Vegas series. What carpet I choose is important as the room has sliding doors to the yard where people will go to smoke and I am sure they will drag sand back into the room with them.Rubber underlay is the best choice I assume? Eddie was a true gentleman, and invited me to play a game, as I was watching him play others. I was about 12 at the time. The game was neck-n-neck, and Eddie 'accidentally' sunk the 8 in the wrong pocket. ![]() At this stage I am thinking that blue felt on dark timber will look great.I did a google on axminster and came up with this. http://www.brintons.com.au/index.html There are some fantastic looking carpets on this site in particular the Las Vegas series. What carpet I choose is important as the room has sliding doors to the yard where people will go to smoke and I am sure they will drag sand back into the room with them. Dragging sand back into the room is to be avoided, irrespective of floorcovering chosen. There are strategies that should be implemented to manage this. What surface will be in this area outside? Rubber underlay is the best choice I assume? Not necessarily. If you choose a fine quality axminster carpet, the underlay chosen is vitally important. A supplier that deals with axminster should recommend the appropriate underlay. Go with Brinton's recommendation, or the manufacturers suggested u/lay for your chosen carpet. This link has good advice (but is UK based, so all u/lays mentioned may not be available here). http://www.brintons.net/residential/uk/ ... e/underlay Room dimensions? Ash. Your snooker room sounds great. Can you post a photo of it? Ash, The outside area will be plain concrete with whatever you suggest to trap the dirt. The room is 5.7 mtr x 4.1 mtr not huge but should be big enough.[/quote] Building an Allworth home at St Georges Basin,New South Wales. http://myallworth.blogspot.com/ http://www.allworthhomes.com.au/ Re: Carpet for snooker room. 12Nov 30, 2007 8:40 pm Hi not2oldru,
