Surprisingly tiles are not as cold underfoot as I thought, we had a few cold days this month. I posted a few pics on my blog. http://allcastleprinceton.blogspot.com/ Re: Why did you choose either Tiles or Timber Flooring? 43May 28, 2011 11:48 am kel - your tiles are like a mirror!! I am going to the tile shop today - (if I ever get through this housework) will bring home samples! We had tiles pretty much the same as yours in our last house and they weren't very cold at all. Maybe different types of tiles are colder than others? Re: Why did you choose either Tiles or Timber Flooring? 45May 29, 2011 7:07 pm sheznay Thanks guys! bobaluchi - are they an engineering timber?? Very interesting, where did you get them from? Hey there - we got them from Solomons Flooring but they are available in most carpet and flooring stores. We had them ordered in especially as they are the long plank ones - 2200mm. Bit of a spiel from the website.. ForestSelect XL Armstrong ForestSelect XL laminate flooring provides a supreme, durable and stunning wood grain finish. Surprisingly it will only be a fraction of the cost when compared to single strip natural hardwood flooring and comes in authentic 2200mm lengths . •The VisionGuard Wear Layer consists of a residential/light commercial application rating that protects against wear, stains and fading. •The Hi-Definition Print Technology enables Armstrong to create the most vibrant and natural colours with intensified depth and realism. •The HydraCore Plus high density fibre board (HDF) gives a real solid wood appearance and superior performance which also resists surface spills and sub floor moisture. •The patented Lock’n’Fold Laminate Flooring Installation system makes it easy to install a laminate floor without glue. Check out their website - the colour we have is Brushbox. Re: Why did you choose either Tiles or Timber Flooring? 46Jun 03, 2011 10:11 am There has been also Timber look floor tiles made in Europe for many many years. We have been importing a Spanish range for 13yrs now. The newer ranges are an amazing replica. If you go to our website there is a section dedicated to them. Cheers Charlie Re: Why did you choose either Tiles or Timber Flooring? 47Jun 03, 2011 11:03 pm how long do you intend to live in this house? is it your 'forever' house? we opted for timber b/c I think that timber is a timeless classical look. My mother in law 10 years ago tiled her whole house. she picked a colour that was very neutral, everyone loved it & oohed & ahhed over it. Now, sadly it looks dated but not from wear & tear but b/c 10 years ago the colour & style were trendy but now its daggy!! My aunt on the other hand ripped out her carpet around the same time (maybe 12 years ago) and got her floor boards polished. she still has them & they look fashionable & stylish. ** we had floorboards in our original house for about 17 years. i wear high heels inside the house and have a child (and kids come over for playdates etc). the floorboards still look great. Admittedly I wont let kids smash a tonka truck down on them but I wouldn't allow that with tiles either. I think they look amazing. Building with Life$tyle Homes in Perth SOR Key Dates on First Page of my Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38761 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15907 1 15753 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17858 |
