At the moment NGB have a promotion where carpet and tiles are included. I assume you are wanting to replace an area that is carpeted as standard with either tiles or laminate flooring? If you want to upgrade areas from carpet to tiles, then you will need to pay the price difference. For my home I upgraded the entry area, family room and passage near bedrooms to tiles instead of the carpet. It cost be approx $2500. If you are unsure, then I suggest that you get them to quote up both options of tiles and laminate flooring. If price is an issue for one option over the other, it may help you decide. It would help if you could post a plan or let us know if the area will adjoin areas that are currently tiled or carpeted. Good luck. Laminate floor or tile 3Nov 07, 2010 8:50 pm IH Michelle yes we too have signed with the free carpet and tiles. We originally had chosen to pay extra and have the laminate flooring the whole downstairs but are tossing up between that or tiles as we are able to get gold or silver range. Which design are you building and where. Re: Newbee here.... NBG. Good so far. Laminate floor or tile 4Nov 08, 2010 12:56 pm Hi, I will be building a modified version of the Blaxland 200 in Kyneton, Victoria. I did visit Beaumont Tiles and had a good look at the tiles. I managed to find tiles that I liked in the Silver range, so there was no need for me to upgrade. I am planning to use a Mid-Grey floor tile. My current home has Millenium Black tiles which appear to be a darker grey, and while I like them they really show up the dust. So I thought I would try something a bit lighter this time. If you are considering tiles it is probably worth going to Beaumont Tiles and having a look to see if you like the tiles in the silver range or if you prefer gold. If you haven't signed your contract yet, and like tiles in the silver range then you can probably get the cost of the upgrade back to spend on other upgrades. There will be something that you think is standard but will find out later it is an upgrade. For me I assumed the RFL reflective sheeting (or sarking) under the roof would be standard but it is not. As I am having a colorbond roof I am now organising a variation to include this. Laminate floor or tile 5Nov 09, 2010 7:32 am I always suggest taking Flooring out of the contract and doing it yourself. You have far more control and often get a better deal. Builders work on a min markup of around 20-25% on anything they touch, and so you can save a bit usually. That's the feedback I hear from clients anyway. The OP has gone The latch and striker are definitely not aligned but there was no point trying to help the OP understand that. Hence the reason they are no longer with us. 12 5678 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7272 They make the room much easier to clean for one, reflect more light (if light colour tiles are used), and you dont end up with dust on the top edge of tiles (cause most… 3 9594 |
