Re: Acclimatise after laying and before sanding? 23Jul 29, 2011 3:13 pm I made a business decision very early on, that I would stay away from floating floors specifically because they are (IMO) very susceptible to movement once there is any moisture ingress. For a small operator like me to get call backs to floors that have cupped or bulged because of moisture would almost put me out of business. So I then extended the logic to prefinished and engineered floors, because I think the principal of not having a sealer coat over the top of the entire floor means that once you spill a cup of coffee/wine/beer/water onto the floor it will eventually find its way into the area underneath the boards and potentially create problems. So I have always installed only raw hardwood floors and sanded them in place and sealed them (with either a water based poly or a hardwax oil - if your interested) and it seems to be working for me.
