The subcontractor arrived early and was gone within a few hours. I was caught out with how pilly it is when first laid. Because our house is a renovation project we did not have a vacuum on site and had to go get one to vacuum up the amazing amount of loose pile. When that was done, it looked great. We are now locked out of the house while the final coat of floor polish is applied to our downstairs floorboards. Hence we wont get to truly look at it and test it out until at least Monday. Thanks too to Anthony on this forum for making some calls to sort out issues for us. Re: Eco Plus and IQ150 23Jan 22, 2011 8:56 am Does anyone know if there is a distributor in WA for the IQ150? We are very interested in this product. It looks great and feels even better. We saw it at a HN shop in the country but were told that they had it in store as a once off and would cost a lot to bring it over from the east just for the one job, i think he said $69m2 plus laying. Hi abbeybox, if you cannot get IQ150 from Harvey Norman, do you have Carpet Choice? They have a similar carpet as I mentioned in my first post in this thread. If they are not in the west, then try telephoning the manufacturer, Godfrey Hirst. Godfrey Hirst seems to be an Australian company, and they have an office in Perth (but are based in Geelong). We went with IQ150, but our next choice was one of their carpets. Re: Eco Plus and IQ150 25Jul 26, 2011 8:57 pm Hi guys, I am wanting to decide on the carpets for my bedrooms. I have been hearing a lot about the IQ 150, however not many user comments. Could I request people who have installed the IQ 150 in their homes post some feedback on the carpet quality please. Thanks JT Re: Eco Plus and IQ150 26Nov 16, 2011 9:20 pm Reading about Smartstrand being better than Eco Plus or Redbook Green seems alittle misguided & Brainwashed to me. I would have said they are of similar quality with the Aussie made product being limited in colours & patterns but to be fair to Goofy/Feltex Australia is a tiny market & it is not economical to make the range someone like Mohawk does & remain profitable. I have been to a HN store & talked to salespeople about how good Smartstrand is & I don't doubt it is a fantastic product, but having also been to Fibremasters & talked with the 2 top guys @ the plant, there reasons for the limited colour pallete seem genuine & not covered in sales talk. One of these guys is a scientist & had no problems aswering my questions when I asked things others may not be willing to incase of offending someone. I'm assured Mohawk will warranty Smartstrand, but it would be good to see how UV resistant it really is in the QLD sun 10 or 15 years from now, then I will believe it really deserves a lifetime warranty. I believe Mohawk has done the numbers like any manufacturer who offers 15 plus years of warranty & came to the conclusion that the amount of people who still live in the same house or could bother to chase up thier retailer will be so small or non existant it will cost them next to nothing to replace a few jobs here & there. Seriously who wants the same carpet in their house 15years from now? Most are sick of looking at it by 10years I'm sure. I have seen plenty of 20 plus year old Axminsters probably from Brintons that are faded but still have some good useable life in them being removed to put a mid range nylon or wool in because of the look. Flooring is a fashion industry, Fashions change, my advice is buy the best you can afford in a style & colour that you like & when your sick of it, replace it using the same idea. BTW I have to congratulate HN on training their staff with regard to IQ150 as they seem to genuinely believe it is the greatest carpet fibre on this planet. Maybe it is. Shaws believe P.E.T. or Coke bottle carpet is the future & they are almost equal & generally considered to be the 2nd biggest carpet manufacturer in the world & Owned by Berkshire Hathaway which is part of Warren Buffets Empire. I wonder why Interface, Ontera etc hasn't jumped on the Sorona Bandwagon? Interface would be the best in the world at using or doing Sustainable Carbon Neutral manufacturing & have been doing it longer than any other Manufacturer anywhere. Richard Anderson the former CEO & founder of Interface was the 1st CEO to prove to the world that you can be profitable & sustainable. He set the bar high & others are still trying to catch up. He was 1 guy I would have liked to meet when they did the offical opening @ the Picton plant, but I couldnt be there & unfortunately he has now passed. Their products will see alot more mistreatment & traffic than a Residential residence will ever see.... Food for Thought perhaps? My post is possibly misguided, but it is a view from someone who has been slightly involved in the flooring industry for the last 16 years or so, travelled to Domotex in Shanghai & various other trade shows (I'm doing Surfaces in 2012) & who started on his hands & knees as an apprentice & unfortunatly for my baby soft skin & sad state of tone & fitness still does some installations regularly when we are crazy busy. Re: Eco Plus and IQ150 | Pet Urine Stain Removal? 28Jan 07, 2012 3:57 pm We are looking to replace our carpet with a product that is best suited to me removing *successfully* occasional pet urine staining by our Bichon Frise dog I have read and noted the comments and reviews here on the following products:- Smartstrand Eco Plus Redbook Green I would be most grateful for any advice or comments from those who have encountered 'pet urine stains' and the removal thereof on any of the above brand carpets they have installed in their home. Many thanks. Re: Eco Plus and IQ150 29Jan 18, 2012 7:45 pm Hi Maddison, Smartstrand IQ150 comes with a limited lifetime warranty against both pet urine and pet faeces. To the best of our knowledge, it's the only carpet specifically warrantied against such accidents. It cleans out with water. Stubborn marks may require steam cleaning, but it will all come out. Guaranteed ! You would be aware of the "tests" it went through in the Dallas Zoo and I'm sure your dog wouldn't be able to create as much mess as 6 Elephants !
