Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Oct 18, 2010 1:17 pm My husband and I are thinking of doing a remodel on our kitchen (I HOPE!) and he's thinking he really likes the bamboo floors and/or the cork floors. However, I've not heard very many good things regarding bamboo floors. I haven't heard of cork floors at all. Can you help shed some light? Re: Bamboo Flooring 2Oct 18, 2010 4:55 pm Might want to have a search of the Flooring sub-forum. There's been a couple of threads in the last week or so on bamboo and there's certainly at least one really long one going back a year so somewhere. Edit: or is this just spam with the signature? So basically, the product was not being dried correctly and was getting shipped here with a high MC. The result in some cases was there was bacterial growth in the bamboo, but underneath the surface coating - this created algae growth and subsequent green and balck marks that you couldn't fix! Nice If you do buy bamboo, like with anything else, buy it from a brand name retailer who specialises in flooring and who stand by the product. You may pay a little more, than if you buy a cheap one from "no name" strip shop, but in the long run - you always get what you pay for. Check the forums here for more info. A good brand of Bamboo (there are many, but this is just one I reccomend) is Style Limited. If you want more info on Style Limited (Not Style Plantation or Style Bamboo, don't mistake them) - goto www.stylebambooflooring.com They have product info, pics and what not. If I can help answer any questions to help you, feel free to phone. 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer.
