Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Oct 15, 2010 12:58 pm We have recently purchased a house which has the most dreadful carpet in the living area's, after lifting a corner we have found that the floor underneath is cork. Has anyone had any experience in having this type of floor sanded and sealed. Thought we might do this until we can afford to install timber or tiles at a later date. I'm a first time poster so looking forward to some positive feedback. Dory Re: Sanding Cork floor 3Oct 15, 2010 8:08 pm cork can be used as an underlay but you can get cork flooring still. it really depends on the quality of the cork and the thickness. Some can;t be sanded or can only besanded a couple fo times for the sort you mlay as flooring. It relaly depends on wheather yours is teh type that can be sanded and sealed as a flooring by itself. cork can be wonderful. Warm, easy on the feet, etc. Convert here incase you didn't realise, as we've put cork flooring through the entire living areas of our house. It can be difficult to match it with existing furniture and colours. Though that depends on the shade the cork is.
