Hi,
Less than a week ago I had a floating floor installed throughout most of my house (except bathroom and laundry). Premium Uniclic Readyflor heavea is the product that was installed. My house is in rural Midcoast NSW. I had it installed professionally by the Retailer's recommended installer.
I was told by the Retailer (one of the big names) that this product is suitable for kitchens so based on that information had it installed in my kitchen. I inquired of the retailer how to deal with spills and especially prevent spills going into the expansion gaps at the kickboards. He said that the scotia would limit the amount of liquid going into the expansion gap giving me time to throw a towel over it and wiping it up. Now that I can see the floor in the kitchen, common sense tells me that the scotia would have to be firmly in-place on the floor surface to limit any liquids flowing under it.
But this is not the case. Please see photo. I hope I can upload successfully.
I since have rung around in Brisbane and asked other retailers and installer for advice and now find that this product is not generally recommended for use in kitchens. Also that the scotia should not have gaps under it between it and the floor's surface because the scotia is supposed to hold the floor in place, remember, it is not glued. I have read the installation instructions provided by Premium and there is not any mention of how to deal with kitchens and no Standards for tolerances of gaps under scotia. So how do I know if this is installed up to an acceptable standard?
I can also see the end of the board, as the scotia only overlaps it by about 1 mm.
Would you accept it?
