Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Sep 13, 2010 12:29 pm Hi there, I'm considering using solid teak wood flooring for our home in melbourne. However, i notice it's not very common in Australia as I can't seem to find many stockist carrying them. Anyone know the reason why? Or does anyone have any experience with teak flooring? Any recommendations good teak flooring suppliers would also be great! I know the price is pretty hefty but from what i heard the benefits of using teak is pretty impressive. We plan to have this home last for generations so we're looking to invest in materials that very durable, hence teak. Any inputs/thoughts would be really helpful. I understand that teak because of it's natural oils are more resistant to infections, decay & wear & tear. Do the local hardwoods have the same or similar benefits? If they do, I would be keen to consider those as well. Thanks for your advice! Re: Teak flooring 5Sep 13, 2010 5:25 pm Can't really help you with that, if the timber is high in Tannins you do need to make allowance for that. Check the types of primer your product uses. Also if you need a termite resistant timber then look at Cypress flooring. Re: Teak flooring 6Sep 14, 2010 9:03 pm Hi, If you are interested in Teak flooring for your home, you can talk to us.
