We locked in a deposit for carpets two weeks ago for some godfrey hurst carpet & dunlop springtread ultimate (which was being promoted as 'the best' underlay). I did not remember about excelay at the time.
Went home and remember about it and re read some of the underlay threads saying excelay is the better product. However the confusing thing is when we went back to ask to swap to the excelay the people there could not work out why we want to swap as to them ultimate is way better. Also ultimate ($25/m) is $7 more expensive than excelay (@ $18 /m). I though excelay was suppose to be more expensive???
I am aware that ultimate is more springee / spongy compare to excelay. BTW they are selling Prime @ $20 /m (but prime has no moisture barier = bad for new slab ??)
Should we swap to excelay anyway and save our money? We have not swap the underlay yet as I am totaly confused The difference is only a few hundred dollars.
I have both sample right in front of me. excelay is thiner but more compact, ultimate is thicker but not as compact.
