Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering Re: Floating Timber Floors - What brands are available 21Aug 13, 2010 8:02 pm There's another floater floating around - Armstrong - has anyone used it on this forum? Saw it today. Their Elite Valenza product has a massive 4mm of timber on top of the usual ply/whatever. The only trouble I see with this product is that it has slightly "eased" edges (bevelled?), if you don't like the prominent edges. This seems to be the only remaining non-wide floating board on the market (91mm wide). Another product is Lifestyle (look under Australian collection) - 3mm of solid timber. Specs say it has square edges, but I can't remember what I saw in reality Width 127mm, looks very nice. And, the thickness of the timber layer in Armstrong appears to be more uniform than with other brands. There was a Big River floater next to this. Some boards have about 1.5mm of timber, some about 2.5mm - seems very unreliable. Also, their floor is not pretty because of the way they cut the timber to make this product. Armstrong, for example, apparently slices the timber as they would slice it for normal solid boards. My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Floating Timber Floors - What brands are available 22Sep 12, 2010 8:23 am Dollar I've never been a fan of floating floors and never seem to understand why people choose floating-maybe cost wise but anything else I'd prefer to go with tiles or some other form of flooring. Most high-rise apartment in the CBD (if not all), you only get 2 choices: carpet or floating timbers. Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors. But I'm not sure… 3 6109 Thank you fro your response, Simeon. It is good to hear that you have had a positive experience with Parisi.
