Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jul 30, 2010 11:45 pm We are in the middle of a flooring nightmare and not sure what to do so I hope someone can offer some advice!! Before we installed a new kitchen we recently decided we wanted to install new flooring in our terrace in the downstairs area as it is open plan. The intial problem was that the front two rooms were hardwood with sub floor and the kitchen out to the back is tiles on concrete. Not only that but the floor in the front two rooms was at a slightly different level than the kitchen so that needed to be levelled. So we sought advice from the flooring company and they suggested before installing the floating floor that we should level the floor either using a timber leveller or plywood and sanding it down. So we had the floor levelled by having plywood stuck down on top and while that was being done some of the joists repaired and replaced. however when the internal wall was re-rendered (due to having to replace the DPC) the floor got wet so now we are left with warped plywood. So now we are not sure what the best thing to do is, and before we spend what feels like a small fortune to have engineered floating floor installed we want to ensure that we are not faced with problems further down the track. Please can someone advise us on the best thing to do, do we need to have the plywood removed, will it dry out and not change, or if anyone else has had experience with putting engineered timber on floating... Any advice is greatfullly received thank you Re: Help! how to fix our floors to install floating floor 3Aug 04, 2010 6:56 am Replace the ply. Then lay your floor.
