I've got timber flooring going into parts of my house. The problem is I don't have any architraves or skirting (in the carpeted and tiled areas). I don't even have cornices, so it's all a nice clean contemporary look. Now for the timber flooring I see three options:
1) Add skirting only to the timber areas (easy to do, but the worst looking)
2) Put cork around the perimeter (problem is that I would not want to go more than 5 mm wide and everyone is saying that 10 mm is the requirement)
3) Stop the render about 27 mm from the slab so that the timber can slide under the render.
What's the minimum expansion gap that has half a chance of not creating havoc?
