Firstly I know very little about carpets hence my post. it was only when i started reading other posts of this forum i realised how much i didn't know.
I have just finished building an extension and I am now looking to carpet an upstairs floor including 1 bedroom (4.5m x 3.6m), 1 hall (1m x 5.1m) and the stairs (1m x 16 steps with cut stinger so needs to be overlocked or beaded ~dunno the right wording - down one side)
It's a small townhouse for me and my partner, no kids (in the near future). we have hardwood floors on the ground level.
I'm after a carpet that will feel nice underfoot, look the part and not too expensive. I dont need one that will last a lifetime as I expect to replace it in say 10 years when the place might get it's next facelift. i have budgeted around $1200. would this cover it? is it much more expensive to have stairs carpeted?
can anybody tell me what I should be looking for in a carpet, any recommendations of carpets or suppliers. i live in the city (Melbourne)
thanks
