Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 May 30, 2010 7:48 pm We recently got timber floorboards installed, sanded and polished. We notified our builder and he actually suggested we get them done now. We went to the house to peer through the front door to have a look (can't walk on it yet) and then we saw that there are foot prints from the front door to the start of our hallway!!!! We told the builder before the floors where sanded and polished bluntly and clearly that NO-ONE can walk on the floor until 3 days after. Then people can walk on them but with no shoes. Does anyone know if the foot prints can be fixed easily? What is the process? Re: Can foot prints be removed easily in timber flooring? 2May 30, 2010 10:06 pm Foot prints? The floor should have been dry to walk on after about 6-8 hours. And even then soon as they walked on it, it should have been sticky enough to tell them it wasnt a good idea to be walking on. Are you sure its not just foot prints from some dust (plaster dust etc) that has been walked in after the floor has dried? If this is the case then it should just clean off no dramas Re: Can foot prints be removed easily in timber flooring? 4May 31, 2010 9:14 am namtrak Foot prints? We went there that night at about 8pm and thats when we saw the foot prints. Someone has worked on it after the flooring guy has left. We touched the first foot print that was closest to the door way and its not plaster dust. We are speaking with our builder and flooring company today. So fingers crossed its not as bad as it looks and can be fixed easily Re: Can foot prints be removed easily in timber flooring? 5May 31, 2010 10:08 am A buff with a screen grit and a new coat may do the job. Otherwise, a resand and start from scratch Re: Can foot prints be removed easily in timber flooring? 6May 31, 2010 10:32 am namtrak A buff with a screen grit and a new coat may do the job. Re: Can foot prints be removed easily in timber flooring? 7May 31, 2010 10:57 am You should be able to negotiate something. The Australian Timber Flooring Association have a mediation process of sorts. Google them, cheers Re: Can foot prints be removed easily in timber flooring? 9Jun 16, 2010 10:43 pm The flooring guy had to sand down 2 coats of the polish in the entire area, then re coat the 2 coats. But all is well as the builder has agreed to cover the cost (just delayed us moving in, but we are in now yay!!) Excellent JJ Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15909 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6191 |
