Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Aug 31, 2010 9:06 am Hi. We are building a small 2 bedroom granny flat size home. The kitchen, dining & living room are all one room & are not divided by any walls. For this reason I want to keep the same flooring throughout this room so it appears bigger. We definatley want timber flooring & in a walnut (dark brown not chocolate) colour. We have red tounge structaflor. Can anyone recommend some flooring for us? Start with Tallowwood and work from there. However there is one option which I am hoping to encourage a client to undertake one day. If you look at Cypress flooring (murray pine) there is generally quite a range of colour from the light yellow sap wood prevalent in the newer flooring to the golden yellows of the older knotty floors. However if you look closer in about 1 of every 100 boards there is a real dark brown colour - I mean distinctly dark dark brown. I do have plans to one day to head out to some of the mills in Western NSW and see what it would cost to have the mill hand select the boards out for me. At even double the price it would still be a cheap floor and I believe look absolutely stunning. Anyway, thats ones a bit outside the square. Cheers Can anyone suggest a house layout where the kitchen-dining - living runs the length across the rear of the house left to right where our best view will be we… 0 4638 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 16795 |
