Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 May 20, 2010 2:38 pm At the risk of sounding like a total idiot, is it possible to have floor tiles laid without the grout gap? If so, are there only certain types of tiles which can be laid this way? I'd like to have tiles in my living area, and i've seen some places where the tiles meet each other and they look perfect. How do they achieve this look? 12 March 2010 - Land titles received 3 April 2010 - Signed building contract 14 April 2010 - Prestart 28 April 2010 - Loan approved 30 June 2010 - Slab completed 27 August 2010 - Brickwork completed 22 September 2010 - Roofing completed 30 September 2010 - Internal walls plastered 12 October 2010 - Lock Up 19 November 2010 - PCI 26 November 2010 - Handover 29 December 2010 - Moved In https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32584 Re: Floor tiles without grout gap 2May 20, 2010 3:31 pm Allanna, not really. But there are benefits of having grout joints as narrow as possible, as grout is the main thing which gets soiled and requires maintenance & cleaning. To get the look you want, you need firstly to have a perfectly smooth flat sub-floor. Then you would need to choose tiles with a rectified edge (after the tiles are produced and fired, the edges are machined so they are perfectly square). Then the tiles must be laid very well with the minimum sized gap. I'm not sure, but I think 1 to 2mm would be the smallest. Then a suitable grout should be used, such as epoxy grout. Most tiles that fit into that description would be porcelain tiles. By using a grout colour close to the tiles, it would have an almost seamless look. It would be pricey, but have a really classy look! Cheers! Ash. The gap can be adjusted so it's tighter. You can definitely set up corner cabinets to have the same gap as standard doors. 2 13532 Got my stairs designed like this with 250mm Gap marked below.
