Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Apr 24, 2010 8:07 am Hi all.Hoping someone can help me fix the floor in my unit. The unit has got tiles through out which i am happy with, though in one section in the lounge area it has got a carpeted section in the middle with tiles around the edge of the room. The carpet has got to go cause its old.The carpet section is about 3x3 meters.Would i be able to recarpet the area my self or does it have to be stretched when it is installed.Or would tilling that section be a better option? Thanks Re: Fixing floor in unit 2Apr 24, 2010 6:36 pm Installing new carpets is a simple matter (for professional carpet installers). Its probably best to measure the area carefully, and go shopping for a carpet remnant from a carpet warehouse. You can buy a very good qualioty carpet remnant normally for about half price. Arrange for professional installation. Make sure the carpet is at least as thick (or thicker) than the tiles for best effect. Having said that, there are some carpets that can be installed yourself, but that depends on a few things. It won't be an expensive exercise anyway, so best to pay for professional installation. Ash. I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says.
