Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Apr 18, 2010 2:06 pm HELP I need some advice. A couple of months ago we made up our minds and decided to have bamboo floors in the living areas, and carpets to the bedrooms, to be installed after handover. The plan was to get the bamboo laid first, then carpets after. But now since we're getting the carpets via the builder (they gave a good deal), this means that the carpets will be fitted first as the bamboo floor guys wont get access till after handover. Im now concerned about how the joins will look like (where carpet meets bamboo) as i was informed by others that the carpets should always go on last to ensure a neater look. Im not sure what to do....am I worrying too much or is this not really an issue? Would we be able to get carpet installers to come back after the bamboo floors are done to re-fit or re-adjust the edges?? 12 March 2010 - Land titles received 3 April 2010 - Signed building contract 14 April 2010 - Prestart 28 April 2010 - Loan approved 30 June 2010 - Slab completed 27 August 2010 - Brickwork completed 22 September 2010 - Roofing completed 30 September 2010 - Internal walls plastered 12 October 2010 - Lock Up 19 November 2010 - PCI 26 November 2010 - Handover 29 December 2010 - Moved In https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32584 Re: Wood floor after carpets....problems? 2Apr 18, 2010 4:12 pm Shouldn't be a biggie really! Just make it perfectly clear to the carpet installers that bamboo flooring is going to abutt the carpets. You should find out the total height that the bamboo will be, as that may influence how they finish the carpets, and what trims to use. Also may be different depending on if the bamboo is fixed or floating. Ask them to explain your options of trims etc. I would suggest that black plastic sheeting be placed over the new carpets whereever the bamboo installers need to work and walk to avoid soiling of the carpets. If they are doing any sawing and creating dust, be sure to vacuum thoroughly after they've finished to recover dust. Ash. I ask this because I am looking into flooring at the moment and like the Bamboo - my niece just has some installed and her pattern in the bamboo was very busy and I did not like it - I have seen other samples in showrooms and I liked it -there seems to be different patterns from different companies who supply them. Ask the carpet layers to put smoothedge down in the doorways and stretch the carpet onto it then the timber flooring installers lay there trims down then just have to cut the carpet into the trims for you will take them 10 minutes.
