Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 24, 2010 3:31 pm I'm hoping to find someone who has used the Largo range from Quickstep. I have a young family so the floors are going to take a beating. Also wanted to know what it looks like installed, and whether it sounds hollow like other laminates. The Quickstep website says: Beautiful planks, 2 metres long and 20.5 cm wide. That’s Largo. An exclusive collection of trendy floors that bring depth to your interior. The planks are 9.5mm thick, which ensures a solid, high-quality sound. Can anyone verify whether its as good as it sounds?? Images of your installation would really be appreciated ______________________________ http://homewithcoco.blogspot.com Re: Quickstep Largo - anyone have it installed? 2Apr 19, 2010 7:20 pm I saw a sample of the Quick-Step Largo floorboards today on the wall in a showroom in Sydney and they looked really good. What price have you seen them for? Have you managed to find anywhere that has them om display on the floor (ie so you can walk on them)? Thanks Jane Re: Quickstep Largo - anyone have it installed? 3Apr 19, 2010 9:16 pm jane10021980 I saw a sample of the Quick-Step Largo floorboards today on the wall in a showroom in Sydney and they looked really good. Thanks Jane I laid largo natural varnished oak plank on sunday it was my first time with largo and as with all the quickstep range it was fantastic i have the eligna laid in my house at the moment and to be honest i still think i prefer the smaller boards but the largo did look good maybe in a big open house it may look better than the smaller eligna boards. Thanks Jane Hi Jane I was quoted $49 about 6 weeks ago from ifloor.com.au but they warned me saying prices fluctuate depending on the value of the Aussie dollar (so could go up or down depending on when you order). Let me know if you find anything cheaper. We won't be ordering for at least 3 months. I haven't seen them displayed on the floor yet either. I have a couple of boxes left over i can put them together and take a photo if you like. Would really appreciate some pics Haven't seen any installations and no one puts Largo on display room floors yet. Why do you say the Eligna looks better than Largo? Does it look closer to hardwood? What's the Largo like to walk on? Does it make that hollow laminate sound? Did you find it easy to install? What underlay did you use? Thanks for your message! You're the first person I've heard whose actually installed Largo. coco http://homewithcoco.blogspot.com Re: Quickstep Largo - anyone have it installed? 8Apr 21, 2010 4:20 pm cocobeanhouse mickve Sorry my camera is full of other floors i have done and am to lazy to take photos anymore. You're the first person I've heard whose actually installed Largo. coco http://homewithcoco.blogspot.com I think the eligna looks better because i have laid thousands of sqm of it and i am used to it the largo looks different. I would say the largo is a bit harder to lay and you nead to plan the job out a bit more. I dont think there is much difference in the sound from the 8mm eligna to 9.5mm largo the job i did was laid on a white 3mm foam underlay. Ill open up some boxes in my house and take a photo for you if i can get it up. Re: Quickstep Largo - anyone have it installed? 11Apr 21, 2010 6:52 pm You're a legend Mickve! Nice pictures, makes me double-glad that I switched to Natural Varnished Oak Your flooring is beautiful by the way, may I ask what it is? Nice pictures, makes me double-glad that I switched to Natural Varnished Oak Your flooring is beautiful by the way, may I ask what it is? By my flooring you mean the floor underneath the largo ? If so it is eligna which is about 7 years old now and is no longer available. When you go to the link can you view all the pictures if so i will put more photos i have up there. Re: Quickstep Largo - anyone have it installed? 13Apr 21, 2010 7:37 pm That's a nice Eligna colour, what a shame it isn't available any more. I can see all the pictures just fine, would love to see some more! Re: Quickstep Largo - anyone have it installed? 14Apr 22, 2010 9:04 am thank you Mickve. You are brilliant to do all that work for us! it really helps seeing it layed in a domestic environment. we don't have the budget to get someone to lay the largo for us. if you don't mind, do you have some tips for installation? we'll have to do over 200m square on a single storey home and also through the kitchen. ______________________________ http://homewithcoco.blogspot.com/ Re: Quickstep Largo - anyone have it installed? 15Apr 22, 2010 3:24 pm cocobeanhouse thank you Mickve. If you do it yourself dont forget to cut all the doorjambs at the height of flooring bunnings sell a tool designed to do this. Make sure you tape up all your underlay with a waterproof tape. make sure you alow for expansion joint to break up the floor you cant lay 200sqm and only leave your gap around the perimeter you nead to have some expansion joints at doorways. Most important follow the instruction leaflet in timber packs as a manufacturer will find any reason not to warrant a floor especially when its a diy job. Dont forget to check the subfloor with a 1 meter straight edge any humps or dips in concrete more than 3mm over 1m will need to be fixed b4 laying. Does anyone know any stores who have it installed on display?
