We ordered and put a deposit down on Readyflor Spotted Gum for the house we're building back in May last year...
Had a phone call today today informing us there's a shortage Australia-wide of that particular size and timber, and we can't have the flooring installed until the end of May 2010.
Absolutely livid that this has happened as we rang the flooring company as soon as we knew what date handover was and have been checking in with them for months.
This now means we can't install our wool carpets (not cheap) until after the timber flooring has been laid.
Which in turn means our built-in wardrobes won't be installed until everything is in (could be installed before carpet but not recommended).
We could install the carpet but the dust created by the timber floor will float into the carpets which is less than ideal with an allergy-prone son.
So my question is: what can we do to keep the dust down on the concrete floor throughout the house?
Is there a cheapish way of sealing it? Roll on some paint? Or a clear lacquer?
Would you just go ahead an install the carpet in the meantime?
Absolutely furious! Pregnancy hormones and the stress of handover = not a good combination!!!
