( Eucalyptus delegatensis / Eucalyptus regnans / Eucalyptus obliqua) Vic Ash ( mix ) should not contain Stringybark by rights. As you said the mix can vary from different mills.
As you can see from your link, a stained finish on that type of timber gives you different shades of the one colour, not different colours as such. Timber names for marketing/sales can be confusing - some are mixed species and some are single species, some are given more 'marketable' names such as 'New England Oak' which to most horticulturalists/botanists is a Manna Gum.
