Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Aug 25, 2007 4:16 pm HI everyone,
I'm considering getting a laminate floating floor. Is there anyone who is happy with theirs, and can recommend it? Or has anyone had bad experiences or any warnings? Do they show indentations from furniture or stiletto heels like timber? Any advice appreciated!!! Thanks Eimaj Re: Laminate floating floor - are you happy with it? 2Aug 26, 2007 6:26 pm Personaly I hate the thin sound of them as you walk across them.
but re dent etc - any timber floor will mark they are not like tiles. But 4 me that's part of their "warmth and character" So you either like it or you don;t This link will give you some tips. http://www.timber.org.au/menu.asp?id=101 The timber flooring manual at 3mb is a good read. I love love the look of the timber floors. But I sweep every day and see dust and pet hair straight away. I have 2 kids and think i might need a mat under the kitchen table. The builder actually upgraded our flooring to a better (thicker) one due to unavailable product which I think was luck as I have noticed some splinters in the wood of this one and may have been worse with a lower grade. I'm not sure if this is normal or not but when sweeping things can get stuck in these splinters and are hard to get out. Also the laid wood around edges and these also splinter at the corners. That’s a first…. I haven’t heard of that happening before. My advice to anyone thinking of “tongue and groove” flooring is to get an expensive one. The warranty is better and so is the quality.
