Looking for some advice on maintenance issues with different types of timber floor finishes, being a range from the "satin" to a "high gloss".
Theoretically, I tend to believe that the high gloss finish will reflect lots of light and look just stunning. However, looking at my TV stand whose top is a tinted glass I understand that even a single piece of dust destroys the overall stunning effect and starts looking just yak. Another example would be an iPhone - slick and cool until greasy fingertips are seen on its body
In comparison, my PC desk has an opaque glass and nothing is seen on it - not dust, not fingertips, nothing.. and yeah, after replacing my screen protector on the phone to an "anti glare" which is a bit opaque as well I tend no to clean up it 300 times a day
Continuing such analogy towards flooring, somehow I tend to think that the same logic will apply and satin finish will hide such imperfections as dust and scratches much better. It is probably worth to mention that downstairs the timber is going to be darkish (grey IB) and upstairs quite light (tallowwood) - not sure if there any specific considerations for finishes in respect to different colours...
Will appreciate your feedback
