LAMINATE FLOORING 22Mar 22, 2010 9:34 pm Anyone have Quikstep Largo installed? We're considering it in our house and need 200m2+ and want it through the kitchen. How does it perform? Not many images of it anywhere and haven't read any feedback from anyone who has installed it so hoping for someone to give me some advice. coco http://homewithcoco.blogspot.com/ Re: REAL TIMBER FLOOR BOARDS VS. LAMINATE FLOORING 24Mar 23, 2010 12:44 pm Hi Coco, we're getting Quick Step Eligna for our house, installed in a few weeks. It's very well thought of by the H1 members who have had it, and I've researched it extensively. The Largo is just a bigger board than the Eligna (with a V-groove I believe?) but it's constructed the same - the Quickstep laminate is very hard-wearing and lovely to look at so I think you can't go wrong Re: REAL TIMBER FLOOR BOARDS VS. The end result (and we've committed now) was a great price on Boral Silkwood Brushbox 2 strip for the entire house excluding 4 bedrooms (carpet). Why? We had room to extend the budget we had set for flooring but did not want to extend too far. Whilst some of the laminate look great, we went the enginnered option because we could. We got a great price on the Boral (think it was around $72/m2) and can get it laid for around $20/m2. We'll aim for $55-$60 m/2 for laid carpet and will come in around $12k for entire house (190m2) Re: REAL TIMBER FLOOR BOARDS VS. Then the more I researched it, the more concerned I was about the variations of quality. And who knows what the factories in China use for the resin.. read stories about the harsh chemicals used in the manufacturing process so ruled it out as we have two young boys. Also the more I looked at pictures of residential installations, the less I thought it looked that great. Brought a large 1m x 1m sample home to check it out, and realised it was totally wrong for our house. Just my opinion. Re: REAL TIMBER FLOOR BOARDS VS. How much was the Eligna per square meter? I was quoted $49 (product only) for Largo and we were going to install ourselves. _____________________________ http://homewithcoco.blogspot.com/ Re: REAL TIMBER FLOOR BOARDS VS. LAMINATE FLOORING 28Mar 24, 2010 11:10 am For sure! I'll be going snap-crazy with the camera once my floor is in Our Eligna was supplied and installed at just under $70 m2 through an independent company, but not broken down into supply/install prices. We saw it at showrooms for $39 - $42 m2 supply only, and they all quoted approximately $30 to install on top of that. Re: REAL TIMBER FLOOR BOARDS VS. Fair enough, we saw a couple of jobs done by our builder and it looked fantastic and have froends with it and they love their floors. I read some horror stories and some really good reports on-line. A lot depends on the quality of manufacture and my builder took a while to be convinced by his flooring guy apparently and now he is won over and is doing it in the majority of homes that ask for floorboards. I originally wanted spotted gum but that was a bridge too far for us so we settled for Tassie Oak before our builder suggested bamboo so in the end we liked the look so its bammboo coffee strandwoven for us Blog: http://funmore-residence.blogspot.com/ Forum: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=21109 Construction Start - 19/09/09 Slab Poured - 21/10/09 Frame Completed - 25/11/09 Lockup - 22/12/09 Fixing - 22/02/10 Handover & Moved In 30/04/2010 Re: REAL TIMBER FLOOR BOARDS VS. After exhaustive research, we are also going for the Quickstep Eligna (Oiled Walnut). If they did a Largo in a similar colour we would go for that. Prices in Sydney seem to be about $40.m2 supply only and I'll install myself. Stairs scare me though - so will get in a pro for that! Building the Caprice33 by Provincial Homes.
